Inspectors Report
Inspectors Visit Summary
At Sønderborg International School the teaching language is in English and the school is certified as a Cambridge school. A school is created by the people who have their everyday life there. The people are the anes to give the school personality and life. The people make the school a living organism which develops and live its own life. I believe in our school’s personality because I see a lot of well-being children – and when one thrives, one can learn.
I both visit the school and I also follow the school through the homepage and via the general communication from the school. It gives me overall a real good picture of the life at school. I have seen and experienced the good atmosphere among both students and teachers. Students being engaged and showing reflection and teachers being qualified and friendly accommodating towards the children.
I have attended class teaching, group- and individual work. In my opinion the teaching is organized not only at a relevant level according to the different classes’ school level but also at a high academic level of ambition in the separate subjects. In many ways, the students show great interest in their schoolwork and I often see high quality in the student’s work.
I thus estimate the teaching at the school to be at a level which fully equalizes the goals for teaching in the Danish Folkeskole. This is also reflected in the student’s progress reports. I have experienced an engaged management being concerned about the schools’ development and at the same time being involved in each single student’s well-being.
Despite all differences among both students and teachers, the school has a community based on freedom under own responsibility for everyone.
